I also got the test to pass on 64-bit, also on the same branch. However, after merging with jepler/master/sf328, it all breaks as expected. I really hope someone else will pick up the work of fixing sf328 while keeping nml-over-tcp working. But at least for tonight, I'm done trying to do so.
