Hi Jeff, welcome! That would be a great contribution, and would be very welcome. Do you have experience with the gui toolkit that StepConf uses? It's no big deal if not, it's pretty easy to learn as you go. Have you used LinuxCNC before? What is your interest in this project? After setting up your development environment and cloning our git repo, the next step should be to configure and compile it, and play around with Stepconf a bit. Figure out how it goes from "ask the user questions in a gui" to "write the .ini and .hal config files". Then see if you can see the issues that the tickets are talking about. Feel free to email the emc-developers list with questions at any time, and come say hi on irc (though we're not always available in real time there).
