I have done some work (some time ago) on converting gladevcp to GTK3.
GTK2 is not going away anytime soon but the GLADE editor for making panels
will sooner then later not be able to be forward-ported to Debian.
I won't talk about GTK/GLADE devs being short sighted....
There has been significant work done on gladevcp, gmoccapy and gscreen
and it would be a shame to lose the editing ability, just when users are
starting
to utilize the new features.

The biggest hurdle I have at the moment is Gremlin.
It seems some of the libraries used have not been updated to GTK3, so it
needs to be rewritten with different ones.
I have found one example of GTK3, openGL with python and have played
with it, but must admit it would be a long time to get anything usable from it.
It's a lot to absorb.

The gladevcp widget work is in the repo, I will continue it if I can get
traction
on a gremlin replacement.
Soooo if anyone is interested on working on the problem, I can give them my
opengl hacked work to look at....I'm sure I have it some where.. :)
