The hal meter menu and the show halconfig do show some halui stuff, but
the axis gui is 100% bereft of any halui buttons.

I'd assume this chain of events starts with an entry in the
custom_postgui.hal file, and when I first started to configure this
machine back in July after installing the ball screws & some
gingerbread, it errored out and would not run until I had excised the
line it was fussing about.

But, if I made any notes at the time, they've long since disappeared itno
the sands of time as I was more interested at thge time in making the
basics work. That has been accomplished, and today the big box was
hoisted by my deer hoist hooked to a skyhook in the garage ceiling, and
the rest of the computer related stuff moved into the furniture I hung
on the garage wall.

Even a direct spindle reverse is accomplished in a few hundred
milliseconds at 1200 rpms! So Jon's pwm servo driver is absolutely
working as it should be. So I expect that rigid tapping will be
possible, however I will be looking for an R8 tap driver, something that
will grip the square shank of a tap and absolutely prevent its slipping
as it would if mounted in a drill chuck. If anyone knows where a set of
those can be obtained, I am all ears.

But, despite all the halui stuff, no halui gui bits and pieces are
generated. I suspect a line I nuked may be the missing piece of the
puzzle, but I do have some halui stuff on the toy mill, associated with
the camera operations. But a grep of that directory on the toy mills
computer also doesn't show me a line that looks like the original
invocation line. So I've still no clue where to start.

Advice will be checked out.

Thanks all.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
