When I was 15 I had never even heard of assemblers, I thought that Hex was how you were meant to write machine code. I used to be able to disassemble hex dumps in my head. (well, enough to see which bits I needed to focus on). Which is the sort of thing that obsessive 15-year-old boys excel at. At the time i was all set for a career in computers, but my dad advised me that in the future computers would just be tools and there wouldn't be any money in programming them.
