For several years, we have had a presence on github via the unofficial
linuxcnc mirror that I maintain,
https://github.com/jepler/linuxcnc-mirror/

The repository has 20 who "watch" it, 41 who have "starred" it, and 166
"forks". We've also received 21 "pull requests", many of which have
come from first-time contributors and have been incorporated in
LinuxCNC.

A LinuxCNC developer holds the "linuxcnc" github organization page, but
it remains unused.

I would like to see jepler/linuxcnc-mirror moved to the linuxcnc
organization, making our presence on github more official. However, I
envision that it would still be a secondary system and that we'd continue
to maintain our own primary git repository on git.linuxcnc.org.

Other repositories such as the one that generates the new
www.linuxcnc.org website could also be moved to the linuxcnc github
organization.

This doesn't imply transitioning to other github services. For
instance, I am not proposing moving bug trackers at this time. But this
would create the opportunity for us to do it in the future.

Please voice your thoughts about this. It's my hope that we can reach a
consensus on the list and move forward.

Jeff
