Normal seems to be 250,000 or so, and it was running 1,300,000 when I was seeing the problem. That would maybe be taking about 500 us for that one component to execute, extrapolating from prior measurements.
That oddity just went away after trying a few different combinations of boards and firmware. So far, I've been running about 2 hours and the jumping coordinate problem has not showed up again.
