So t does. And it applies also to
usb-FTDI_FT232R_USB_UART_A50285BI-if00-port0

As in:
gene@GO704:/dev/serial/by-id$ sudo
stty -F /dev/serial/by-id/usb-FTDI_FT232R_USB_UART_A50285BI-if00-port0  -a
speed 9600 baud; rows 0; columns 0; line = 0;

eol2 = <undef>; swtch = <undef>; start = ^Q; stop = ^S; susp = ^Z; rprnt

lnext = ^V; flush = ^O; min = 1; time = 0;

What else needs to be turned off?

Extremely verbose. I tried the second example first, lots of stuff I'll
likely need to turn off, but by that report, the attempt to set 9600
with setserial worked. I'll obviously have to nuke some other stuffs
too since the probability of their occurring in normal traffic is a
virtual certainty. Thank you for reminding me about stty. Time to read
its man page. I also think that I had better teach udev how to
configure it as totally data transparent.

But first today is to take a tire from my rider someplace and get it
inflated, I need to mow, and when I made it to the pavement so I could
start with the parking strip, it was obvious I had a flat. Rear tires
look to be OEM, very badly weather checked, left one blowing straight
thru a sidewall crack. Went to TSC and got the only one in that size
they had and enough tools to change it. With 20+ years of rust in the
wheel/axle, I had to rig a puller and pull it every millimeter till it
fell off. Spent the rest of the day wrestling with tire spoons but
never did get the beads to seal. Plumb beat me up. That crap is for
younger people. But my grass is up to scythe height, so knock it back
down is first on the todo agenda for the day.

Thank you Matsche.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
