For an update, it just took the pi (on the lathe) about 8 hours to build a 4.14.y.v7 rt-preempt kernel, but as I watched it from time to time, I saw it building stuff not needed, and that can be removed from the .config. So that time could likely be shrunk. This was working from a 60 GB sata ssd, hooked up to a usb-3 adapter plugged into a usb-2 port and partitioned with about 10GB as swap. And using another 40GB partition as workspace. This despite being unable to confirm that it was being built for an armhf. I could not find it in a make menuconfig. With that much swap, the binutils bug did not appear to be anything but a speed limit, the LD phase was a very consistent 1 second per module processed. The grin is close to reaching my ears... ;-) -- Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
