Andy, I'd have to agree with quite a few of the comments, stick it someplace, well covered and sound-proofed. When I am on a troubleshooting or coding spree, nothing upsets me worse than an interruption of my train of thought because its a long time wasted to get back to doing productive troubleshooting again after the GM has come by for the 4th time in an hour asking when it will be fixed. And it only malfunctions 2 or 3 times a day for uses many times an hour. Worse, when I finally did find it and fix it, it was the design engineers fault, he'd used a spare cmos nand gate as an inverter, and had left the 2nd input floating. YOU DON'T DO THAT IN ANY LOGIC FAMILY!!! Chyron got a phone call over that one, telling them that engineer wasn't all there, the best part of him ran down his mothers leg. I only had 4 years in running that one down, an hour at a time, because I had to give up and reinstall it, built in flakiness and all because it was part of an automatic station ID that CBS controlled remotely, and I had other, higher priority stuff to do. Just one of the headaches that go with being the only one that can fix what the other 50+ employees can break, or that can wear out. Duties that included blowing away sales schemes that were better called by their correct name, payola. And its a federal crime. Like news had just shortened up an $8000 zoom lens on a camera by running it into a door frame at the courthouse trying to get some video of a murder suspect. That took several phone calls to Fuji as they didn't want to sell internal parts to just anybody. Lets just say I broke them of that attempt to make us be a captive customer of their own service shop, a shop that never turned a job like that around in under 3 weeks. I had it working like new 1.5 hours after the parts arrived. Bah, humbug, worthless project. If you have other things to do, and they are connected to one of the teats on the cash cow, this is a time killer just because the context switch takes a human a few million times longer to do than even an AMD Phenom.
