I think so, w/o a running instance of LCNC, I have a residual io process
with a lock on the LCNC .ini file and a halui instance with the .hal
file as argument, but the halui did disappear after trying to kill the
io instance 2 or 3 times with a root session of htop.

So it appears that linuxcnc, master version, is not cleaning up after
itself, requireing a reboot to arrive at a clean system again. This on
an intel atom D525MW board. The io process in particular, is not
killable by a root session of htop, and floods the htop screen with
trash text when a sigkill is sent.

Stopping LCNC results in this splat on the screen it was running on:

Looks like a spot of trouble in paradise?

>From your canary,

Now, I have 2 of those boxes, the other, running TLM, is not suffering,
so I'm in the process of updateing it also. Brings it up to LINUXCNC -
2.8.0-pre1-4586-g60ecbbb. And it is not suffering from this "exit"
problem. Rebooted the machine running the 6040 and its now cleanly
exiting. If it repeats, which it will if recent history is read, I'll
yelp again. Can this be the result of some dangling thing in a .hal
file?

.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
