So it appears that linuxcnc, master version, is not cleaning up after itself, requireing a reboot to arrive at a clean system again. This on an intel atom D525MW board. The io process in particular, is not killable by a root session of htop, and floods the htop screen with trash text when a sigkill is sent. Stopping LCNC results in this splat on the screen it was running on: Shutting down and cleaning up LinuxCNC... task: 1731 cycles, min=0.000059, max=0.033411, avg=0.005180, 0 latency excursions (> 10x expected cycle time of 0.005000s) gene@shop:~/linuxcnc/configs/6040.atom3$ Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:01:01 ... kernel:[192483.236020] Process halui (pid: 10572, ti=ed00e000 task=f3ab05c0 task.ti=ed00e000) Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:01:01 ... kernel:[192483.236020] I-pipe domain Linux Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:01:01 ... kernel:[192483.236020] Stack: Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:01:01 ... kernel:[192483.236020] Call Trace: Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:01:01 ... kernel:[192483.236020] Code: 8d 58 28 89 5a 24 83 c2 20 89 50 28 89 48 2c 89 19 8d 74 26 00 5b c3 8d b6 00 00 00 00 56 89 c6 53 8b 58 0c 8b 40 44 85 c0 74 0b <8b> 50 04 85 d2 74 04 89 f0 ff d2 8b 46 4c 85 c0 74 0b e8 8b 14 Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:01:01 ... kernel:[192483.236020] EIP: [<c10c7e3e>] remove_vma+0xe/0x50 SS:ESP 0068:ed00fec8 Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:02:27 ... kernel:[192569.067989] Process io (pid: 10570, ti=f3b9e000 task=f3bf5a80 task.ti=f3b9e000) Message from syslogd@shop at Feb 16 08:02:27 ... kernel:[192569.067989] I-pipe domain Linux Looks like a spot of trouble in paradise? >From your canary, Now, I have 2 of those boxes, the other, running TLM, is not suffering, so I'm in the process of updateing it also. Brings it up to LINUXCNC - 2.8.0-pre1-4586-g60ecbbb. And it is not suffering from this "exit" problem. Rebooted the machine running the 6040 and its now cleanly exiting. If it repeats, which it will if recent history is read, I'll yelp again. Can this be the result of some dangling thing in a .hal file? .
