Hi Randy,

Thanks for the offers to help! For IRC, you need to register your nick with NickServ on freenode in order to post. This was done a little while back because of a flood of spammers.

I volunteered to be the release manager quite a while back now (too long), but have had far less time or energy to put into working on it that I had hoped for a number of reasons. I am having a little more time right now and am hoping we can get a release done before long. Any and all help is appreciated by everyone.

Reverse-run would be nice but I'm not sure how much work it will take. I would really like to see the TP fixes from Rob Ellenberg merged into master at least though.

There is a document here on the release process:
http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ReleaseCheckList

As far as a master list of things to be done or a roadmap, I don't think there is anything really. There is a milestone feature on Github and I have tagged a few issues and a pull request with the 2.8 milestone.

Thanks,
Moses

  Thanks Andy!
For the others I am linuxcncuser_ran  (truncated) in the irc, not sure what to
go by yet :-).  I guess I need to be approved to post there, as I tried
replying and it said I was not allowed yet.
Thanks!
Randy

I have poked around in the git repo, but I am a little lost to what the current
status is.  I am wondering if there is a master document somewhere there is a
list of everything which needs to be done beyond the issues list?  Is there a
road map document covering the desired goals for the next couple of releases?

No, not as such. LinuxCNC has never been that organised. (And might be even
less organised at the moment as some major developers are trying to move on)
Also I note there is a label / tag for the 2.8 pre release set, but not a
forked branch in the repo.  is that a private one, or maybe located somewhere
else?

I don't think that 2.8 has been "frozen" yet. I think that there is still some
thought thta reverse-run should go in.
