Well whether we get 2.8 now (like when is now?) or in two months doesn't make much difference. The fact that master is probably going to be unstable makes a difference though. I predict that getting 2.9 out quickly is not going to happen. statetags python3 GTK3 that's a lot of work that can't be avoided much longer.
Why not merge now let it be used till we are actually really ready to release and at that time if there is any question we can pull it back out. we could even tab 2.8 now to make it easy to revert. In this way the most stable products of master are in 2.8 so if it takes more time to get 2.9 out then we like (which is always the case now it seems) nobody is missing much. Putting reverse-run in to 2.8 was discussed in May 2019. The thought then was to freeze 2.8 and get it out soon, I still think this is the bet plan. Get 2.8 out as soon as possible, without the risk of any new content being added. Then plan on 2.9 following soon after. ie, not 6 years later) _______________________________________________ Emc-developers mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-developers
