A number of fields in the debian packaging and repository are names and email addresses.
In the repository InRelease (etc) files we have one of Origin: Seb Kuzminsky <seb@...> Origin: Chris Radek <chris@...> I have had problems installing packages when I changed this. (see also https://askubuntu.com/questions/1090676/how-to-update-google-chrome-70-after-change-in-origin-value ) But I have not been able to reproduce the problem. This is defined as (https://wiki.debian.org/DebianRepository/Format#Origin): Origin Optional field indicating the origin of the repository, a single line of free form text. Proposal: www.linuxcnc.org Maintainer: ( defined in debian/control.top.in ) Currently: Seb Kuzminsky <seb@....> This can be a mailing list, so potentially [email protected]... But that might not work properly as emails from non-subscribers are rejected. Seb runs the buildfarm, so is probably legitimately considered the maintainer. If we keep this field the same then I should add "NMU" to the changelog to indicate "Non Maintainer Upload" or, potentially, we can add an Uploaders: field ( https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-controlfields.html#s-f-uploaders ) -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1912 _______________________________________________ Emc-developers mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-developers
