Hi all

My first post here.

I have two wishes:

 1. I recently ran into problems with a dell precision T3500 of a
colleague of mine. I recommended this PC because of this post, where
the said pc is tested with excellent results.

We had figures well above 100'000 nS. So I had to start digging into
the problems. In the course, I wanted to use memtest86+ off the USB
install stick, based on buster ISO 2.8.0 2020-09-07. I tried to
invoke memtest from the stick, but it fails, both when called from
"Advanced options | Memory diagnostic Tool (memtest86+)" or through
"Advanced options | Hardware detection tool (HDT) | Memory | Run test".

If going through HDT, I get

Loading /live/memtest... failed: no such file or directory
    boot:

"Loading /live/memtest... failed: no such file or directory
    boot:"

On the stick, in grub.cfg I could not find entries for memtest86 or
    memtest86+.

I think, for debugging memtest is very handy, so I kindly ask, if
memtest could not be added to the buster ISO?

 2. When installing on a used HD/SSD, I regularly get to the situation,
where a disc has an incompatible partition table written. The
graphical installer runs into a problem then, writing a new
partition table. If on Ctrl-F1/2/3 terminal one could fire up say
"fdisk" and thus write an empty dos partition table, that whole
    installation process could run through.

A "nice to have" only. I get around this in aborting the
installation process, shutting down the PC, extracting the dis,
attach it to another PC, write an empty partition table to it and
the then restart the installation process from scratch.

 3. Midnight commander in Ctrl-F1/2/3, please.

I'd call it nice to haves, not need to have. But if available: sooo good!

Greez

chris
