Having CONFIG_X86_IOPL_IOPERM disabled was the problem, took me a bit to figure it out. Hi Tom, 5.19-rc7-rt7 was the kernel version (PREEMPT_RT linux-rt-devel git sources, custom kernel on Gentoo, amd64 architecture) RTAI on ARM hasn't been touched since around 2011 (at least in upstream SVN) The code won't even compile on any relatively recent system, and how well it ever worked is unknown. I'd consider RTAI on ARM a lost cause at this point. Latency is around 20 microseconds on AMD Ryzen with the custom kernel, all is well now!
