I agree that the meeting was not really effective. In my opinion we
have to think about the topics we want to discuss in advance and put
them on the agenda. And also limit the time.
The audio and video is often a problem at those meetings. Maybe we
should spend some time to check that before we actually start the
discussion.
You are the next to invite and head the meeting. Yes, please. The idea
is to have every meeting headed by someone else and allow that
individual to have complete authority over how that meeting is handled,
who is speaking, how long, what the agenda is, etc. So we would have
clear structures without having any particular hierarchy between us.
So, yes, we should have an agenda, a start and (most important) a
duration set for the next time.
We can collect ideas for the agenda in the Google document, linked
below. But I'm not sure if everyone with the link has write access to
that. Can you try that?
Everyone can make suggestions. Ping me for unconstrained access.

I unfortunately found the meeting frustrating. The audio was
unusable about 50% of the time.
Sound and vision was perfect for me. I suggest to avoid video in the
future to save bandwidth. The otherwise common "only speaker not muted"
had kind of kicked in over time, I am confident that the next meetings
will see this enforced a bit earlier.
For mw,It got to the point it was useless to continue trying.
Not sure if it was on my end or if there were any other options.
Seb did mention he had some trouble too.
I think it was you, or "the connection across several oceans". Should
improve with no vid and muted-while-not-talking mikes.
Next meeting:
Is there a way to post small writeups of subjects keen to be discussed?
I had opinions on 2.9 release but could not be heard?
Thanks for organising the meeting. Nice to see a try on an organised
direction again :)
Last time we decided we wanted a more formal meeting structure, we did
it this way: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?MeetingsOnIRC
IRC in 2013 was way more reliable that video chats in 2022, but
perhaps less accessible to folks who are not used to it.
I do not really care. Would not mind to see special interest groups
forming that then have additional meetings with whatever tech they want.
I found the joint discussion over old PRs to be the most fruitful part
of the meeting, which should become a regular thing. Maybe we can even
have individual PRs as an official bit of the agenda.
Best,
Steffen
