Greetings all;

2 things:

1. I must be logged in so x or wayland is running before I can run linuxcnc -l to check on update success or failure.

2 even if I do slip on my slippers and walk the 10 feet to the garage back door and login on its own keyboard. my go704 still doesn't run. First, I had to use nano because no display stuff was set, to disable the complete "manual_tool_change" stanza at the bottom of the hal file due to missing pins. That made it at least open the gui from its own keyboard & monitor.

And I'm still not running remotely, getting this:
gene@GO704:~/linuxcnc/configs/go704-xyza$ linuxcnc -l

LinuxCNC terminated with an error. You can find more information in the log:
    /home/gene/linuxcnc_debug.txt
and
    /home/gene/linuxcnc_print.txt
as well as in the output of the shell command 'dmesg' and in the terminal
gene@GO704:~/linuxcnc/configs/go704-xyza$

That is a buster machine. So is tlm, and sixty40. tlm, much simpler machine and not capable of running ATM as I've only half installed the power control switching stuff so it has no motor power, but it succesfully updated and the gui still runs from a login from here in the house. Sixty40 is a much more complex machine, still runs a several day old buster update.

Is this fixable or is it finally time to install bookworm?, which has NOT been a resounding success on this main machine.

Plz advise as I have a job for the go704 pending. Favor for a friend on a when I get a round tuit, but...

Cheers, Gene Heskett, CET.
