The problem that crashed the buildbot is different, and should also be reported 
upstream. 

That bug is in po4a, and makes it spin forever while spewing error messages, 
filling up logs and running everything out of disk.

The bug is in at least po4a versions 0.67 through 0.73, which includes 
bookworm, trixie/testing, and unstable. 

Our build scripts don't run po4a if the version is less than 0.67, so the 
problem may exist in older versions too but presumably nobody cares about those 
.

The commit that I just reverted in 2.9 triggers the bug.
