I paid my respects to the RTAI mailing list: https://www.freelists.org/post/rtai/In-Memoriam-Prof-Paolo-Mantegazza,5 I will do the best I can to keep RTAI alive for LinuxCNC but without anymore development on the mainline branch, there won't be much to do. I've already fixed all the issues I could find in the RTAI tree (1,280,511 additions, 1,195,055 deletions over the course of 185 commits not including merges) but I can at least keep the 5.4 kernel patches up-to-date from kernel.org I haven't been touching RTAI much since mainline development for the most part stalled out about 2 years ago. The 5.4 kernel will be receiving patches until it's EOL cycle in December, 2025. It's very sad that he's gone, he was one of the best. Alec
Thank you Alec. Even though i am not using it ATM, all my machines have full internet access, I've found the preempt-rt version generally adequate for my machines as long as firefox is out of the scene. That, and prof. Bertho S. rpspi.ko for 7i90HD spi drivers on the rpi4 constantly surprise me. The only thing that can bother that Sheldon lathe is touring the net with firefox while LCNC is running, its an interrupt pig.
But at 90 yo I'll age out of this soon enough. Thank you, all.
