Well, I also managed to get it compiling and running now. Started with a
complete blank clone.
The problem was a hal component that was left in place when I switched
between several branches. How that happened...no idea. Probably
something that got generated and never cleaned.
Lets just say, this falls under the developer-being-stupid error
category ;-)
