I would propose an option 4:

* remove RTAI support (will have to happen at some point anyways, it is
a dead end)
* put effort into getting xenomai 4 support into linuxcnc instead of
doing a C port of ruckig. using a subset of c++ is possible in realtime
domain in preempt rt and in xenomai 4.
* xenomai dual kernel should be comparable to RTAI regarding latencies
that are achievable.
