Hi all,

We have been working for some time on the HAL update to move 32-bit pins, params and signals to 64-bit. The change is now committed and the old types are all gone.

Everybody using the *master* development branch is affected by this breaking change. In this update process, not only C/C++ API changes were implemented, but also Python interface changes.

Note that the documentation is not yet updated. The doc changes are staged and will be updated shortly.

The most visible changes for developers and users are that HAL type names have changed:
- float --> real
- bit --> bool
- s32 --> removed and replaced with sint
- u32 --> removed and replaced with uint
- s64 --> sint
- u64 --> uint

The same naming convention is also used in the components and halcompile. If you have private components or drivers, then you need to update them accordingly and assure 64-bit clean operation.

The naming change makes it very clear that we are on a new API that is not compatible with the old one (as used in 2.9 branch).

The name changes also affect several components that included the old naming conventions in their name or pins. You need to update your HAL files accordingly. There are few components left to update, but they should not create larger problems.

We are now working on the final process in the 64-bit update. We need to assure that all components and drivers are 64-bit clean. We have a 32/64 compatibility layer that needs to be removed and code must be converted and tested. These are 32-to-64-bit code issues that require updates to make the code-base 64-bit clean. The final changes should not be breaking changes from a user's perspective.
