Jon Bertrand asks if FCC Class A devices require a label. Yes, is
the short answer. Class A devices are subject to VERIFICATION, while
Class B devices require (in nearly all cases) CERTIFICATION. I quote
FCC Part 15 Rules as follows (I don't think this section was affected
by the recent change in the rules, at least for Class A...):

15.19 Labelling Requirements
(a) In addition to the requirements in part 2 of this chapter, a
device subject to certification, notification, or verification shall
be labelled as follows:
(1) Receivers associated with the operation of licensed [... omitted
for clarity ...]
(2) A stand-alone cable input selector [... omitted for clarity ...]
(3) All other devices shall bear the following statement in a
conspicuous location on the device:
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is
subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not
cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any
interference received, including interference that may cause
undesired operations.
-end quote-
Note that there is no distinction as to the class of the product,
this text applies to both A and B devices. The only difference
(aside from the ever popular user manual requirements) is that Class
B devices must also display the FCC ID on the product.
Don't feel bad Jon, I find that this little snippet of FCC Rules
appears to evade a lot of people in the ISM realm. As a result, I
keep a copy of this section within arms reach at all times.

I'm a little confused on FCC Class A/B labeling.
If you have a piece of light industrial equipment - I presume Class A
compliance is Okay - does it need to have a label on it saying it
complies with Class A.
I've been told if it's class B it needs a label, but class A doesn't
need a label.
I've looked through all the regulatory docs they have here and on the
FCC web site and I can't find anything.
