I don't have a definitive answer for you. As far as I know EN 61000-3-2
prA12 has not been yet published in the OJ. However, it is my
understanding that most manufacturers have been certifying product as if
A12 were in effect and it is my understanding that A12 will be published
in the OJ. The problem with 61000-3-2, as published is that it required
immediate compliance of product that did not require harmonics testing
under the old standard. I believe this was an oversight that A12 cleared
up by delaying mandatory testing of these products 'til June 01, 1998.
The flicker spec. 61000-3-3, already had a provision for delayed
implementation for products that did not previously require flicker
testing until June 01, 1998.

A12 amends the date of mandatory application of 61000-3-2 until
1998-06-01. However, the forward on page 2 of the standard states: " For
products which have complied with EN 60555-2:1987 before 1998-06-01, as
shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previous EN
may continue to apply for placing product on the market until 2001-01-01"
1998-06-01 is the date of withdrawal of EN 60555-2:1987. For products
that fall within the scope of EN 60555-2:1987 (cooking and heating
equipment, motor-operated/magnetically driven appliances, tools, light
dimmers, radio and TV receivers, etc. for household and similar use),
either standard can be used until June 01, 1998 for demonstrating
compliance. After June 01, 1998, all new products (designs), must be
tested against the new standard for compliance. Products which were not
in the scope of 60555-2:1987, but fall within the scope of
61000-3-2:1995, (virtually all AC mains powered devices single or 3-phase
drawing up to 16A per phase, regardless of intended environment) require
testing to the new standard no later than June 01, 1998.

Hope this clears things up.

Subject: EN 61000-3-2:1995 (-3-3:1995) A12

Hello again:

Does anyone know the status of EN 61000-3-2:1995
(-3-3:1995) A12. Which I understand is to delay
applicability.

Does it push the date of applicability back to June
1, 1998 for Class D equipment? Has it
been approved?

I have not read this standard and need to know if it
applies at this time to light industrial or heavy
industral equipment.

Thanks in advance for your insight!
