Hello Grasso,

You asked about info on "safety" relays. The German machine tool assoc
also has a standard ZH1/457 which requires "forcibly guided contacts"
maintaining at least 0.5mm gap over life. No contact may change state out of
syncronization with another even in the event of welding, coil failure,
etc.. Some parts of the machinery directive seem to have similar
requirements.
Both Siemens and Hengstler in Germany make such a device (same design, both
manufacture it). It is a four pole PCB style relay with a choice of
2-make/2-break or 3-make/1-break contacts. They are not in the same Siemens
group we are, but, if interested, you may contact me for a copy of the
Siemens datasheet and follow it from there.
I'm not sure where you are located so I will give you both sources. If your
quantities are relatively large, the marketing people here at SEC would also
assist you if you are US based.

We have recently been hammered by the Machinery Directive and need to find a
source of relays that are Forced Guided Contact relays.. Anyone out there
have
a source for these relays??
