        Again, this is a subject that is not clearly nor uniformly treated under
all the different Directives...  But, it is pretty clear that unmarked units may
be supplied for trade shows and demonstrations...  Generally, these unmarked
units must be under the control of the company that owns/imports the units for
this purpose...  These units may be used for demonstration, but must always be
under the control of the owner/importer and not be operated by anyone except the
employees of the owner/importer...  

        Although this seems pretty restrictive, it is intended to keep 
'dangerous
= not CE marked' equipment out of the hands of workers and protect them from
injury...  

        So, although a company may provide equipment that is not CE marked for
shows or demonstration purposes, the use restrictions are so limited that, in
reality, it's more cost effective to get the certification finished and the
equipment CE marked before it is imported into the EU...
