The following responses have been previously sent to TREG regarding
     Czech requirements:

     A.
The Czech Type Approval Regulations require that both
Telecommunications and Radiocommunications equipment meet with
the provisions of the National Safety Law. Where TTE is required to
meet the Czech Standard CSN 36 90 60, which equates to
     IEC 950 : 1986 (EN 60950 : 1988). Modem and facsimile apparatus may
either be tested by EZU or in some instances the EZU will from time
     to time accept CB reports.

A key point to note is that because the Czech PTN is not protected
against lightning strikes and other such phenomenon, equipment
connecting directly to the PSTN requires additional testing which
is over and above the requirements set out in both EN 41 003 : 1993
     and EN 60 950 : 1994. This additional over-voltage safety testing is
made by the EZU, the Czech standard CSN 33 40 00 for over-voltage
     and over-current requirements equates to the ITU-TSS K.21 ~
     2.5kVac 10/700us impulses.

In respect of compliance with EMC, test reports can be supplied for
equipment demonstrating compliance with EN55022 and CSN IEC 801
(parts 1, 2, 3 etc.). Some of the IEC 801 series have been
     implemented
into Czech national requirements and others adopted with a dual
     number reference.

I hope that this answers your question sufficiently.

     Sandy,
Following Edward Fitzgerald's input to your question regarding
     regarding
     "Intrinsic Safety".

Edward goes to mention an additional Safety requirement for connection
to the Czech PTN is CSN 33 40 00. (K21)

It may be worth mentioning that when ever I have had a product
approved for connection to the Czech PTN, TESTCOM have carried out
the testing to CSN 33 4000 NOT "EZU".

Testcom would also be the laboratory you would contact for network
     approval testing.

The address for Testcom is as follows:-

Technical Centre of Telecommunications and Posts Prague
     Hvozdanska 3
     148 00 Praha 4
     Czech Republic

     Tel : + 422 7992111
     Fax : + 422 763211

With obtaining various network approval's in Eastern Europe including
those of the former USSR I have found that the basic procedure is very
similar if not the same as those found within Western Europe. The main
problem I have come across is communication. I recommend that you
establish a local contact / distributor in the country you require
     approval.
If you just require a Safety / EMC approval i.e. your product is not
going to connect to a public network, then you could use the CB Scheme
route as Edward mentioned or various labs around Europe have
accreditation from EZU, KEMA in the Netherlands is one.

     I hope the above helps.

Where can I find info on the Czech Republic's requirements for Safety,
Emissions, & Susceptibility of ITE products? I understand that they are
*not* an EU member state.

I've searched RCIC's EMC-PSTC archives, doesn't look like we've chewed on
this one yet.
Also, I contacted the Czech Embassy, DC... nothing yet.

Thanks Loads
Joe
