Subject: Request for Power Transformer Independent Consultant
Bose Corporation, whose corporate headquarters are in Framingham,
Massachusetts, USA, is looking for a power transformer (mains isolation)
consultant who can assist in setting up a manufacturing operation of mains
transformers and inductors within Bose. The individual should be familiar
with the various choices in the areas listed below and their economical
consequences. This involves understanding how different volumes can affect
the choices. Most of the mains transformers produced are EI, C-core, and
toroidal, sold world-wide. The consultant should be capable and have the
knowledge of the following, including the full manufacturing process and
choice of transformer materials:
1) Winding machines and how to set them up.
2) Tapping
3) Core insertion machines and how to set them up.
4) Varnishing (vacuum impregnation probably preferred).
5) In-line performance and safety testing equipment for production.
6) OSHA requirements for transformer production operation.
7) Sources of all transformer components and their various grades.
Includes materials for core, winding wire, tape, insulation, bobbins.
8) Space requirements and layout for an efficient transformer operation.
9) Familiarity with standards such as UL1411, UL94, CSA C22.2 #66, IEC742,
IEC664, etc.
10) Safety agency requirements for Certification of a transformer
manufacturing operation for consumer electronic and commercial audio products.
11) Knowledge of transformer design for North American, European, Japanese,
etc. use and safety agency compliance is preferred.
This knowledged must include production of transformers for use in a
world-market (North America, Japan, Australia, all of European Union, and 50
other countries).

A PROCESS EXPERT IN THE FIEILD OF TRANSFORMER MANUFACTURING.
