The FCC has released a notice of actions on Docket 95-19 dated May 9 1996.
The commission has adopted new rules to relax the equipment authorization requirements for personal computers .... Generally I will summarize the notice. The FCC will allow a "DOC" in place of the Certification procedure required in the past. To do so will require the lab be accredited by NIST or the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. The new rules will also allow a "DOC for marketing of personal Computers assembled from separate components that have themselves been authorized under a DOC". The release does not detail specific dates for anything like transition periods or other specifics. I understand this detail should be released very soon.
