For those of you who are interested in the Colorado Product Safety
  Technical Committee (CPSTC).

On May 8, 1996, the CPSTC held their meeting at the "The International
Tesla Society" in Colorado Springs, CO. A brief meeting was held before a
tour and demonstration of Tesla's works began.

  The meeting agenda was:
     * Tentatively for the June 5, 1996 meeting, Herb Gibson from OSHA,
       will be our guest speaker.
     * Tentatively in July there will be a group picnic meeting.
     * Tentatively for September after the Labor day holidays, the meeting
will be HP in Colorado Springs. Ron Duffy will give an abbreviated
       safety seminar.
     * Tentatively for January 1997, the last meeting for the 1996 and the
first meeting of 1997, the group will meet at the Jackson Hole
       restaurant.

And now for the Tesla tour.

The tour and demonstration of the Tesla Society museum was literally
electrifying. The president of the society, J.W. McGinnis, gave us the
tour and demonstrated some really far out inventions. Where most of us work
in the few hundred volts and milliamps, he works in the tens of kilovolts
or more. Some of demonstrations included, how a magnetic braking system
works (a rotating copper disk is quickly stopped by placing it in-between
two permanent magnets), generating lightning around a glass jar, solar
powered motor (without using the large solar array panels), energizing a
fluorescent light tube via the electric field from a Tesla coil (you've this
seen on TV, where someone is under a power line with a fluorescent bulb and
it begins to glow), and to feel the tingling sensation of an energized
Tesla coil across ones own hand was something to be hold.

They are having their 1996 International Tesla Symposium in Colorado
Springs, CO from July 18-21, 1996. If you are interested, please give them
a call. Also, they do accept donations regarding old and used high voltage
devices, instruments and components. So if you're going to through
something away, give them a call first.
