The requirement can be found in CSA C22.2 No. 950/UL 1950 (Bi-National
Standard) in Annex NAE, Clause No. 3.2.4.
Maximum cord length: 4.5 m
Minimum cord length: 1.5 m (with some exceptions)
These are North American deviations based on the National Electrical Code
and the Canadian Electrical Code.
