Hello everybody,
I am interested in the effects of EM fields on magnetic recording media,
as floppy disks and hard disks.
I have no experience on this topic, and would like to know your opinion
on some questions:
1. Which kind of field is worse, radiation (for example x-rays in
airport detectors), or pure magnetic fields (from induction motors, for
example)?
2. What field level is permisible without causing a loss of digital
information?
3. Is there a way to shield and protect the information stored?
4. Is this topic covered by any EMC directive?
Any comment or information on bibliographic sources will be
appreciated.
