I just became confused about the official effective date of EN 50082-1.
I just read a message on this group from Kevin Richardson which states:

<<The effective date of introduction of the new EMC Framework
regulations was
1 Jan 97. Your date of 1 Jul 97 I think may have come from very early
information distributed from the Spectrum Management Agency (SMA) where
it
was indicated that specific standards compliance would be introduced on
1
Jan 97 and generic standards compliance would be introduced on 1 Jul 97.
It was very quickly realized however this was unworkable and so for not
very long after this initial information was circulated it was changed
so
that the new regulations took effect from 1 Jan 97 for all equipment (as
you say not completely all).>>

This was in response to the Australian C-tick Effectivity and may not be
directly related to the EN 50082-1 standard. But,I was reading in the
Nov/Dec 1996 Compliance Engineering magazine (pg.85) that new products
entering the European Union for the first time after July 1, 1997 - as
well as older products that are substantially modified and retested
after that date - must comply with the newer 1996 standard and not the
1992 version.

Can anyone out there clear up my confusion about the official start date
that new products must meet the new 1996 standard? And if older products
can still be accepted before July 1, 1997 which meet the 1992 standard.

Thanks in advance,
