TITLE: Senior Product Safety Engineer COMPANY: Nortel, Research Triangle Park, NC. Reporting to the Manager of Access/ Broadband Networks Integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This senior level position will provide the qualified candidate the opportunity to work in a group responsible for the Physical Design Integrity of globally developed Broadband Access products. You will define Product Safety requirements for product development and team with packaging and electrical designers to ensure Customer and International requirements are met. You will also conduct simulation activities on circuit pack layouts and other subsystems, generate integrity verification plans and reports, and work directly with national and international test houses and regulatory agencies. MINIMUM COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Experience (6+ years related experience): - Evaluations and testing of UL 1459/1950, CSA C22.2 225/950, EN60950, and Bellcore GR-1089-CORE. - Experience with domestic and international product approval processes, regulatory authorities, standards bodies, and product assessment labs for Telcom/Cable Equipments. Skills: - Excellent communications (verbal and written) & Interpersonal skills - Strong circuit analysis skills. - Proficiency with word processing programs (Word, Excel, etc.). - Project/Team Leadership. - Ability to work with minimal supervision.
