Here is an opportunity for some agency personnel who subscribe to this forum to
offer a solution. What is an acceptable means to replace power rating labels
when the part containing the label must itself be replaced during a repair
action?

The application of these labels must normally be done only by the listed
manufacturer or his "agent". No manufacturer wants to authorize every repair
facility in the world to act as their agent.

Some manufacturers meet the IEC 950 label requirements by molding the required
information into the rear cover. Does this mean that the cover cannot be
replaced by the average repair person?

Which of the following is the most "acceptable" AND logical solution:

1. No power rating label on the repaired unit.
2. A replacement label identical to the original.
3. A replacement label with no agency marks included.

If no agency types come forward with solution(s), then what practices are being
followed to deal with this infrequent, but existant issue?
