There is an area off route 128, in Needham, Massachusetts, where
the field strength (due mainly to TV and FM broadcast transmitters)
is so high one cannot remain on the street without exceeding RF
exposure limits. My brother relates that when he recently pulled up
at a local electronics wholesaler, his electronic door lock didn't work.
OK... we work with this stuff, we know the receiver folded under the
local overload. So did my brother. He locked up with a door key and
went about his business.

On the way out, he says, he found a couple of police cars in the parking
lot, surrounded by police. They were locked out, unable to get into their
cars! They'd locked up manually, but they couldn't use their door keys to
get in, because THAT would set off the vehicle alarms.

Charles can't say if they got in OK, or if they had to let the alarms go off.
He left too soon. Still, the image of a bunch of cops trying to break into
their own cars does bring a bit of a chuckle.

And if you need to get into your car outside U-Do-It... use a key.
