Issued by Industry Canada:
Interference-Causing Equipment Standard
ICES-001, Issue 2
Title: INDUSTRIAL, SCIENTIFIC AND MEDICAL RADIO FREQUENCY
GENERATORS (or ISM RADIO FREQUENCY GENERATORS for short)

This document states under Clause 1.2.1 " apply to every ISM radio
frequency generator manufactured in or imported into Canada after
August 12, 1994" My copy has scribbled beside it that the date was
revised to April 1, 1995. This was done by our Senior Engineer so I
assume it is a reliable date.

This standard mainly refers to the measurements and limits as described
in the following standard:
CAN/CSA C108.6-M91 (CISPR 11:1990), "Limits & Methods of
Measurements of Electromagnetic Disturbance Characteristics of
Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) Radio-Frequency Equipment"

The definitions in the standard (ICES-001) are referred to be in the
following standard:
International Electrotechnical Commission Publication No. 50(161)(1990):
International Electrotechnical Vocabulary (IEV), Chapter 161:
Electromagnetic Compatibility.

It is my understanding that although this is the official standard, it is not
highly "policed", as you might say it.

The Industry Canada Standard can be purchased probably from
Standards Council of Canada (SCC), phone 613-267-8220 (in Ottawa,
Ontario). The CAN/CSA standard can be probably purchased at CSA.
On the West Coast (Vancouver, BC) you could call 604-244-6652 or
604-273-4581 (Standard C108.6 is $20).

Just a side note: I noticed that some people responded saying the
standard number is ICES-003. My copy says ICES-001, but since I don't
evaluate to this standard I guess I may have an old version. I'll check this
out later.

Hope this helps,
Melinda Falez

YOU SAID:
Can someone please give me the current required emissions standards
(specs)
for Canada and Australia? I need the spec name (document number),
title,
and published date.

Thanks!
