About 18 months ago we became aware of a failure problem associated with
power factor correction capacitors for luminaires. This problem appears
to have been created by the shift of some manufacturers from aluminium
to zinc alloy films. Can anyone advise me of the current status of the
problem - particularly in Europe. I am specifically interested in the
current understanding of the failure mechanism and the position taken
regarding recalls due to the fire hazard created.
