We also use the Schaffner NSG 435. At my previous employer (an independent test lab), I had the opportunity to use several different ESD simulators, and have to say that of all the guns I have used (including Keytek and Andy H.), I have found the Schaffner to be the best. The only negative I have found with the Schaffner is that over time the contact discharge probe seems to want to crack, and then finally, break. However, this has happened only after about 3 years of use, and new probes are easily obtained from Schaffner.

Three of us [engineers] use the gun, we all like it a lot. My impression is it's easier/faster to use on the IEC 1000 tests then the guns that the local test sites use. It's the best $8000 we ever spent. What would you like to know about it? Jon Bertrand [email protected]
