Hi Pat,
As a member of TC 62 WG13 I like to answer your question.

>From the second edition of the draft IEC 601-1-2 we received more than 100
pages comments and objections. Meanwhile, during three meeting, all of this
was discussed and will be included in the new version, which will be
discussed end of August this year. Based on this amount of comments and
objections, there will be a second draft published before end of this year
(hopefully October!). This means a delay of at least one year of the
previous schedule.

As you can imagine the draft has changed quite a lot. A few things are
crossed out (e.g. clinical utility, high frequency surgical equipment,...)
and some new points are implemented (e.g. comliance criteria,..). From the
technical points of view, the frequency range of radiated immunity is not
decided yet, based on the missing basic standard. This could be 80MHz-2GHz
or 3GHz. The most chance I would give to 3GHz to cover also the
"microwave-oven" frequency. But again, the final discussion will be end of
August.

If you have more questions, feel free to answer.

In June of last year, a draft of IEC601-1-2 Second Edition was
released.

Does anyone know the current status? How has the draft changed?
