I was asked to assist in answering a few questions on a gov't product safety assessment checklist. One question asked if all glass was of the non-shatterable type. When considering VDT's(CRT's), are there any specific requirements in regards to the type of glass use in their construction? e.g. non-shatterable. EN60950 mentions IEC65 and UL1950 mentions UL1418 in regards to Implosion protection. Do these standards make any mention of the type of glass or are they primarily concerned with what happens if it breaks? Along with IEC950 would these two standards be the primary standards which VTD's are designed to with respect to product safety?
