Hello Don,

EN 55103-1:1996 (emissions) and EN 55103-2:1996 (immunity) apply to
PROFESSIONAL audio and video equipment only, in various environments
including normal light industrial (studios, theatres etc.).
Compliance is compulsory for new designs in this category put into
service in the EU on or after 1 March 1997 (i.e. last month!); designs
already on sale before that date and already bearing the CE marking
due to compliance with other EMC standards (such as the generic ones
for both emissions and immunity) may continue to be sold for a
     specified period (a few years).

The number and nature of the various "phenomena" (interfering sources,
both going into and coming out of the equipment) are far too complex
to summarize. It is essential to read the standards themselves. Note
that in common with most product standards, these documents set limits
but in general reference other "basic" standards which specify the
actual test procedures. Thus you cannot know precisely what you need
to do until you have a collection of perhaps a dozen or more
     documents.

Hello again. Just a short note to ask if you could send me an outline of the
various EMC tests covered by the subject standard, both emissions and immunity.

Or if the draft is available on the WEB let me know.

Do you or your people know of the effective date for compliance or is there
a transistion period?

I thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards

drc.
