here we go again, you knew I would object

Yes, in the US UL is the unchallenged market leader. CSA ditto for Canada
(and they are working hard to gain US share).
Internationally, UL is much less recognized (not in an accreditation sense
but by consumer brand name recognition), the vast majority of people is much
more likely to now this agency with the 3 capital letters.
That is due to the fact that UL has a very narrow range of activities (more
or less electrical and fire safety) and is small in size.
VDE (yes, our competition) probably ranks No1 in electrical safety
expertise. Don't believe anybody, ask your local sales force.
This is all just hot air, unless there is a market survey by some
manufacturer that would give some statistically meaningful data.

Members,

To my limited knowledge, Underwriters Laboratory has the most market
recognition of any, FOR PROFIT, oooppps!! excuse me, non-for-profit Safety
Agency on the planet. If we can find some way to overthrow or topple the UL
regime of global dominance and quite possibly through eminent domain shift
the balance of regulatory power to the hands of the United Nations where
proposed regulatory initatives, ammendments, gray area, brown areas and all
other areas can be voted on by all countries. One country equals on vote.
"Free the oppressed global manufacturers from Trade Barriers"

No military mobilization needed unless of course UL decides to defend their
honor at being one of the proud few agencies who can successfully raise
their prices without loosing business, delay completion of jobs because of
inadequate training methods and curtail the capitalist forming effects of a
free market society. If there exists a one world mark then UL is the
closest I've ever seen.

for fun.

SJK

efficient and e the few agencies slap the UL Logo on a couple thousand
contra owned M16's in exchange
