        I thot we discussed this about a year ago on this net... anyway...

        Euro sound measurements are driven by the workplace safety folks in
Germany and the Scandinavian countries.  The approach used is different in
several ways than we are used to here in the US.  For machines, for
instance, the requirement is for the machine manfacturer to disclose the
sound (noise) level of the machine.  This gives the workspace employer
specific information to work with in setting up the necessary conditions to
keep the sound/noise below the level allowed under the workplace
requirements.  Requirements are in place for both noisy shop environments
as well as offices, as I understand it.
