Note also that the US National Electrical Code, NFPA 90 has special requirements in computer rooms in clause 645-11. UPS equipment must be powered down by the rooms Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) switch if the UPS is capable of over 750 VA. This is to reduce the risk with products undergoing failure, and to protect firefighters. Special provisions for shutdown procedures are permitted.
