Dear Andreas,

If we are taking in consideration for the evaluation of your equipment
the Standard EN 60950, last edition(including A3), as per the Table 16,
-Temperature-rise limits Part2,Parts in OPERATOR AREA, the" External
surface of the equipment which may be touched", the maximum temperature
RISE [ K ] can be as follows:

for Metal = 45
for Glass porcelain, etc. = 55
for plastic, rubber,etc = 70

and if your equipment reached only the temperature 49°C, means that the
above mentioned limits are respected. (49 was measured as a value of the
temperature not as a RISE by taking in consideration the Ambient...)

If you still have doubts, you can use the "Conditions applicable to
table 2, references should be made to conditions Nr. 4, and(or) 5,(check
the Standard) or finally 6 which tells that: temperature rises exceeding
the limits are permitted provided that the following conditions are met:

6.1 unintentional contact with such a part is unlikely (
....your equipment is PORTABLE...) AND
6.2 THE PART HAS A WARNING indicating that this part is hot.....

I hope it helps...

Respectfully yours,
Constantin Bolintineanu
