Greetings All, My advance apology if this has recently been addressed.
As a potential cost savings my company is looking at putting as much user's documentation on CD as possible, in place of printed documentation. Is it acceptable to provide the regulatory information (specifically the FCC, Canadian EMI, VCCI, and CE statements) in soft copy format only? I understand that any safety relevant information that is needed for the installation and operation must be provided via "hard copy", but what about the EMI and CE statements that supposedly no one reads anyway? Also, if it is acceptable to put this information on CD only, does it have to come up automatically so that the user has to scroll through it, thereby ensuring that it is at least seen (but probably not read), or can it just be referenced in the table of contents? I have not been able to find any clear guidance in the FCC or European regulations on this. Our products consist of removable, high-capacity computer disk drives (Zip drive).
