Have a question about certification/rating/serial number labels.

First some background. Many moon ago we had 7 or more labels on the back
of our products. I consolidated all into one label, pre-printed with all
except model, serial, rating, manufacture date information. Variable
information is thermally printed on label at shipping when the unit is
packed.

The information includes:

Mfr. name/address
Mfr. Date
Model
Serial
Rating
Laser Safety Info
FCC/DOC statement
Fuse Rating, symbol, caution statement
CE, CSA, TUV, etc. marks

It is put on the rear of each system at floor level. On some products, the
label gets buried by other equipment upon installation. The label is
located where it is because it is next to the appliance inlet, fuse
holder, voltage selector, whatever. It is not on a removable panel (all 4
sides of unit are designed to be removed for service, etc.).

The issue: service people cannot read the model / serial / mfr. date on
buried labels.

We would like to remove model / serial / mfr. date information from the
above described label and put it on a second label placed at more easily
accessed location. That is all that would be on this second label and that
information would be removed from the first label. We do not want to
duplicate any information because of the risk of getting it wrong in one
location or the other (re-configuring products in test is a common
occurrence here).

Is anyone aware of any requirement in ITE or Laser Safety standards that
prohibit what we want to do? Any requirement that model / serial / mfr.
date needs to appear at / near / with any of the other information
described? The only locational requirements I have seen are ratings at
mains connection and fuse info at fuse holders.

Looking forward to your comments...
Regards,
Scott
