Okay so the question was asked about the ENEC mark and being an inquisitive guy I went and had a look so I have a question now: Why is the ENEC mark? What does it do? How does it help? How does it differ from CE. Sorry four questions.
Now I know that, at the end of the day, CE is self assessment, and that ENEC is third party approval but if I've done all my EMC and safety testing at an accredited lab and have a manufacturing process to ISO 9000 what's the difference. The cynic in me is saying "Ian, why don't you introduce your own quality approval, The 'IBALL', and sell the idea of this mark not to manufacturers but to their clients and with a modicum of luck the next order you get for that super thingy will require not only CE, UL etc. but also an 'IBALL' and then you'll have to come to me for it. I'll work for a year, make a fortune and then retire to a hot beach. But no, if I retire then you won't get your 'IBALL' your client won't buy the super thingy without it and faster than you can say "proliferation of approval marks" The World PLC will cease to trade. One man destroys the world economy! I couldn't live with that so don't worry you won't be seeing the 'IBALL'. I'm now going back in to my box to lie down. Oh by the way.......it's just an opinion Ian Ball, Dedicated Micros 1 Hilton Square, Pendlebury Manchester M27 4DB Tel: +44 161 727 3323 Fax: +44 161 794 3603 Email: [email protected] --------- This message is coming from the emc-pstc discussion list.
